Windows 7 Start Menu Search Box

by Reed Porter on November 5th, 2009

WindowsJust a reminder to myself and anyone who has forgotten: If you are having trouble remembering where an item is located in Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista, just start typing the name into the search box located at the bottom of the Start Menu and the object will magically appear at the top of the Start Menu! I find this works best for shortcuts buried somewhere in the Start Menu directory tree, but it can also find network resources you’ve recently accessed and anything on the local computer so long as you know how to spell the name correctly.
